DENTURES / PARTIAL DENTURES / IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES

Dentures and Partials / Bridges from Columbus Dental Care, Serving Greater Nashua Patients In Our Hudson NH Dental Practice, Can Improve Your Smile and Quality of Life.

People can lose some or all of their teeth for many different reasons: accidents, dental disease, congenital (hereditary) absence – some people even grind their teeth down to nubs (bruxing).

Here are some common risk factors for tooth loss:

  • Never using a toothbrush
  • Never getting professional dental care
  • Having high blood pressure
  • Having rheumatoid arthritis
  • Smoking (current or past)
  • Being older than 35
  • Having diabetes
  • Being male

When one or more teeth are missing, or cannot be saved, dentures and partials (also called bridges) are often the answer.

Dentures

Dentures come with huge benefits for patients and can greatly improve your quality of life. With today's technology, dentures are created to look natural in appearance and give the impression of a beautiful smile. Additionally, dentures provide support for your facial muscles, as well as assist with your ability to chew and eat food. Fit correctly – which they will be if you come to Columbus Dental Care - dentures also assist with your ability to speak clearly.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Traditional dentures are removable, and you affix them to your gums with adhesive pastes. Because of this, they can loosen with the chewing of hard foods, clenching or grinding your teeth or with hard physical activity. They can also be lost.

You don’t have those typical problems with implant-supported dentures. Because they are permanently affixed in your mouth to implants in your jaw bones, they provide the better smile and benefits of dentures coupled to the confidence of implants.

With implant-supported dentures:

  • They last forever
  • Your teeth don’t move around
  • There are no embarrassing moments
  • You don’t lose them or forget where they are

Implant-supported dentures are also less expensive than a set of single-tooth implants.

Full mouth denture treatments involve the extraction of any remaining teeth, making impressions to make sure you get a perfect fit, and a final fitting appointment.

Dentures&Partials

If you opt for implant-supported dentures, Dr. Joe may install the implants during the first appointment (assuming you have adequate bone mass), and your fitting appointment will occur 3-6 months later, after the bones grow around and adapt to implants. A temporary denture will be provided to stabilize the implants until the permanent dentures are installed.

Partials

A partial denture, also known as a bridge, is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth, and helps you regain the aesthetics, chewing, and speaking functions that you require.

A partial is supported by your existing teeth and fills in unwanted gaps. Partials  may also be supported by implants and crowns.

The dental process for partial dentures consists of appointments made to examine the health of remaining teeth, taking impressions, and custom fitting the partial appliance. If implants and crowns are a desired option, the implant process and timeline approximately 3-6 months.
